Leaving from Pinares de Urbión

The north-west of the province, between the pine forests and the Urbión range: Covaleda and Duruelo, timber villages near the source of the Duero, and San Leonardo de Yagüe, on the Soria to Burgos road. The Laguna Negra and the Río Lobos canyon are nearby and draw visitors all summer.

Which way it goes

Depending on the village, the route goes towards Soria to come down the A-15 to Medinaceli and the A-2, or towards El Burgo de Osma and Aranda to take the A-1. Either way it is a long trip to Madrid, and in winter the Santa Inés pass and the mountain roads can be icy.

From Soria, Barajas lies at the end of the A-2, before entering Madrid: there is no need to cross the city. With few trains and none direct to the airport, the road is the only reasonable option for an early flight.

When demand peaks

• Snow on Piqueras and the Moncayo (December to March): Soria is one of the coldest provinces in Spain, and in winter the Piqueras pass and the Moncayo heights may require chains. Trips to Logroño, the airport or the station need more margin in those weeks.

Tip: If you are catching the train at Medinaceli, give the exact train time: the station is in the lower part of town and there is little to do there if you arrive early.

Airport pickup

For arrivals, the driver waits in the terminal with a name sign and helps with your luggage. We track the flight number, so a delay costs nothing extra within the terminal’s complimentary waiting time.

For early flights

We recommend leaving Covaleda at least 184 minutes before you want to be at the check-in desk. We operate through the night, always with an advance booking.
